Soon In, Lee

Soon-In Lee graduated from the Hong-Ik University in Seoul with a BA in Industrial Design in 1972 and an MA in Interior Design in 1978, and completed his studies at the Pratt Institute, New York, and the Domus Academy, Milan.
He further graduated from Helsinki University with an MBA in Design Management in 2001.
Recently, SoonIn Lee has been working on his dissertation for a PhD at UT in the Netherlands.
While studying he worked as a designer for Gold Star (later to become LG) from 1975. In 1990, SoonIn Lee became president of the LG Europe Design Center in Dublin, and in 1995 director of the LG Electronics Corporate Design Center in Seoul. During the same year, he became Executive Managing Director of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). Today he is Executive Managing Director of Seoul Design Center.
As a lecturer, Soon-In Lee taught at the Kookin-Min University in Seoul and as an affiliate professor at the International Design School for Advanced Studies (IDAS) in Seoul. Since 2003, he has been a lecturer in design management at graduate school of Hong-Ik University.
Soon-In Lee is Vice-Chair of the Korea Design & Brand Management Society, and a member of the Design Management Institute (DMI) and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). He was the general director for Gwangju Design Biennale 2007.
SoonIn Lee is engaged in the work of renowned committees and institutions. He was, for example, Secretary General of the ICSID Congress Seoul 2001 Oullim and an advisor to the Design Committee of the Korea/Japan World Cup Game 2002; since 1997, he has been an executive board member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), and he will be the elected president of ICSID from 2011 to 2013.

He has designed a wide spectrum of Life Style Product, Toys & Premiums, Home Appliances, Consumer Electronics, Notebook Computer, Telecom Product, Security System, Scooter & Rehabilitation Product, Kiosks, ATM, POS as well as Railway Control Room.
